Jun of Crank killer-T arrives with his new band

Jun of Crank killer-t arrived day before yesterday with his new punk band consisting of a female singer and new bassist. Former drummer of Crank killer-t Shu and guitarist and front man and singer for Crankiller-t Jun is what this four piece band consists of. It took us one day to track the drums for three of their songs which they came to stillblissstudios to do. The other days we tracked bass guitar running through an FMR audio RNP with the inserts running through an FMR audio RNC. And the sound turned out quite nice.
For those of you technical readers I will spill out some secrets of what I do here in this studio record wise as well as mixing wise right here.
As you already know, I own a Mackie onyx 1620. When I first used this mixer I was still a bit leary on using eq in general, especially boosting. So I left the eq section on the mixer flat then worked on the eq with plugs later on in the box. But what I realized working with Jun’s recent band is that boosting with the eq on the 1620 actually helped to accentuate the needed frequencies that I wanted to hear. And so the drums turned out better then they sounded with my clients first band. And they also mentioned this as well. Not saying that NOT using eq is bad, but if you KNOW what you are doing, then boosting can be helpful in the recording process.
I will post snippets of this bands recording in the mp3 player once it is complete with vocals & mastered here.
Thanks again for coming to my blog!
